Here’s the visuals for Nas’ Daughters off of his upcoming album Life is Good scheduled to drop on July 17th. This album is gonna be the shit.
Kanye’s screening of Cruel Summer at the Cannes Festival was shown inside this pyramid equipped with 7 huge screens. I guess if you’re gonna do it…do it big.
Ab-Soul vs. society
- HipHopDX: You’ve got a lot of really notable bars that have left impressions on people in a fairly short time. I think 2011 was a great year for you lyrically. One of the joints that really stands out to me in your catalog is “Be A Man” off of [Long Term 2: Lifestyles Of The Broke And Almost Famous]. On the final verse where you’re talking to your step-pops, you [say], “I looked him in the face and said, ‘It ain’t about the money / And honestly, buying an education sounds funny.’” I’ve never thought about how ironic it is that we actually spend so much money on education. You look at how student loan debt now is in the trillions. Kids coming out of college don’t have jobs. It is kind of ironic that we charge so much for an education. Where did that come from? What brought you to that point?
- Ab-Soul: Two words for you, brother: control system. Simple as that. Everything that is mandatory in this country is a control system. A lot of the economy, society - it’s all controlled. Politics. It’s a big production, if you will. I just think I’m one of the people that’s kind of aware of that.
I started work two days ago and luckily I’m alowed to have headphones on the whole time. In this time I’ve listened to Ab-Soul’s Control System probably about 5 times all the way through. If you haven’t copped it yet, I recommend you do so.
This video is for one of my favorite tracks from the album, Terrorist Threats ft. Danny Brown and Jnene Aiko.
Black Hippy is about to take over the rap game…get ready.
Download it here.
Pharrell x Curren$y. Here’s a snip-it of Chasin’ Papers off of The Stoned Immaculate. This sounds too good to my ears.
I wish I was Will Smith.
Nas covers Complex. I want a poster size of this in my room.
The Alchemist, one of my favorite producers, is releasing this album on July 17th. Russian Roulette will feature Danny Brown, Action Bronson, eXquire, Fashawn, ScHoolboy Q, Roc Marciano, Evidence, Chuuwee, and Willie The Kid. Holy shit, what a line up. This is gonna be the real deal.
Kanye just released the title of the GOOD Music compilation album, Cruel Summer. This will also be the title of a Kanye-produced film that will be premiered at the Cannes Festival on May 23rd. The film will feature Scott Mescudi (Kid Cudi) and Aziz Ansari. It’s gonna be a Cruel Summer…
